Animation: Perseid Meteor Shower

Perseid meteoroids are mostly small bits of stony grit, expelled from Comet Swift-Tuttle. They follow the comet's orbit, slowly dispersing through space. Every year, when Earth nears this stream, the Perseid Meteor Shower occurs. The animation shows the entire meteoroid stream orbiting our Sun.
