Chicagohenge: Equinox in an Aligned City
NASA APOD · Anthony Artese
MENSAJE CÓSMICO
On the equinox, the Sun sets exactly to the west, everywhere on Earth. In Chicago, the city grid is aligned with the cardinal directions. This creates "Chicagohenge," where the setting Sun aligns perfectly with the streets and buildings. This image captures the phenomenon along Upper Wacker Drive during a September equinox.
