Jupiter and the Meteors from Gemini

Jupiter, the brightest planet in this composite image, anchors a scene filled with Geminid meteors. Captured over Portugal during the shower's peak, the meteors appear to stream from Jupiter. This is an illusion, as the meteors are actually parallel trails, and perspective makes them seem to converge near the gas giant.
