This image is part of the first color panoramic view from Venus, sent by the Soviet Venera 13 lander in 1982. Venus has a surface temperature of about 900 degrees Fahrenheit and an atmospheric pressure 92 times that of Earth. Its clouds are made of sulfuric acid. Despite these harsh conditions, Venera 13 survived long enough to transmit images and data.
