X-ray Moon and X-ray Star
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Moon passes in front of an X-ray binary star system in these false-color images from the ROSAT orbiting observatory. The bright yellow spot is GX5-1, a neutron star and its companion. The red glow is lower-energy X-rays from the Sun, reflected by the Moon. The Moon's occultation of the star allowed astronomers to study the X-ray source as it winked out.
