Near Comet Hyakutake's Nucleus

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This March 19th false-color picture, taken by a sophisticated ground-based telescope, shows the area around Comet Hyakutake's nucleus. The nucleus itself, a dirty iceball probably no more than 10 kilometers across, is not directly visible. This image revealed irregular brightness features in the coma. The beginning of the ion tail is visible as a bright feature on the right.
