The Clementine spacecraft, an unmanned lunar orbiter, mapped the Moon's surface in 1994. It used cameras sensitive to ultraviolet-visible and near-infrared light to create the first broad-spectrum global imaging of the Moon. Scientists used this data to generate this map, which shows the concentration of iron in lunar soils.
