COSMIC MESSAGE
The Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico is a premier radio observatory. It consists of 27 dishes, each 25 meters across, spread out on railroad tracks over 35 kilometers. The VLA uses interferometry to combine signals from all its dishes, allowing it to achieve extremely high resolution and sensitivity for observing radio sources in the universe.
