This photo, taken by astronomer Bill Keel, shows Jupiter and Comet Hale-Bopp in the Milky Way near Sagittarius. Jupiter, a gas giant planet, is shining brightly and is well-placed for evening viewing. The image also captures a sample of other celestial objects, including many emission nebulae, in the direction of the galactic center. Keel took this picture from near the summit of Hawaii's Mauna Kea.
