COSMIC MESSAGE
The Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8, is a region of active star formation. Intense stellar winds and energetic starlight from newborn stars sculpt the surrounding dusty molecular clouds. This close-up view of the bright 'Hour Glass' region within the Lagoon Nebula reveals at least two funnel-shaped clouds, each about half a light-year long. These structures are formed by the powerful outflows from young, massive stars.
