COSMIC MESSAGE

The Trapezium, a star-forming region, contains unusual teardrop-shaped objects. These are disks of gas and dust, about the size of our solar system, that are condensing to form planets. The Trapezium is also home to several immense, bright stars. These stars emit powerful light that can evaporate the outer layers of the protoplanetary disks.
