Evidence for Frame Dragging Black Holes

NASA APOD · J. Bergeron, Sky & Telescope Magazine
COSMIC MESSAGE

Black holes do more than just pull things in. They can also spin the space around them, an effect called frame-dragging. This image shows a system where matter is thought to be caught and spun by a black hole. Data from the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer helped measure this effect, confirming predictions for how matter behaves near massive, fast-spinning objects.
