COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet Hale-Bopp passed near the Andromeda Galaxy in late March and early April of 1997. This photograph from March 24 captures both objects. The bright full Moon on that night made long exposures challenging, as it would have overexposed the image with scattered moonlight. Despite the conditions, the comet and galaxy were successfully imaged together.
