The COBE spacecraft created this projection of the entire infrared sky from years of observations. Our Solar System is visible as the S-shaped blue sash of zodiacal light, caused by dust between the Sun and Jupiter. The bright band crossing the image is our own Milky Way Galaxy, glowing in infrared.
