COSMIC MESSAGE
Mare Orientale, or Eastern Sea, is a large, striking lunar impact basin, though difficult to see from Earth. This telescopic view, taken during a favorable lunar tilt, shows it near the Moon's western edge. It was formed over 3 billion years ago by an asteroid impact and is nearly 1000 kilometers across.
