Here is Comet Tempel-Tuttle, the parent of the Leonid meteor shower. It loops around the Sun every 33 years. This composite time exposure from January 26, 1998, captures its unexpected brightening as it passes through the inner solar system. Binoculars or a small telescope are still needed to see it.
