An Iridium flare captured by amateur astronomer Chris Dorreman. These flashes of light are sunlight glinting off the flat, reflective surfaces of Iridium communication satellites in low Earth orbit. Flares like this one can be surprisingly bright, sometimes reaching a magnitude of -8, similar to a quarter Moon.
