Jupiter's main ring, seen here in infrared by the Webb telescope, was discovered by Voyager 1 in 1979. We now know it's formed from meteoroid impacts on small moons like Metis. These impacts eject dust and debris into orbit around Jupiter. The Webb telescope's infrared vision allows us to see these faint structures.
