NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, SOHO, has discovered much about our closest star and about 50 comets. One of SOHO's recently discovered comets, 1998 J1, is bright enough to be seen with the unaided eye. This colorized image is from SOHO's solar coronagraph, which blocks the Sun's direct light to reveal its faint outer atmosphere and objects near it. The image includes an enlarged inset of the comet.
