COSMIC MESSAGE
M13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, is one of the brightest globular clusters in the northern sky. It sits about 25,000 light-years away. This sharp telescopic view reveals hundreds of thousands of stars, crowded into a region 150 light-years across. Edmond Halley noted in 1716 that it was a 'little Patch' visible to the naked eye on a clear night.
