Hyakutake: Stars Through A Comet's Tail
NASA APOD · R. Scott and J. Orman
COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet Hyakutake, a cosmic iceberg, left this tail of gas and dust as it flew through the inner Solar System in 1996. The comet's tail appears to stream past faint stars in the constellation Ursa Minor. This image captures the distant stars through the comet's icy exhalations. It reminds us of the dynamic nature of our solar neighborhood.
