COSMIC MESSAGE
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey telescope, seen here, was poised to make the largest map of the universe in astronomy history. It was designed to survey a quarter of the sky, cataloging galaxies and quasars and storing 200 gigabytes of data every night. Astronomers used this data to create a three-dimensional map of our local universe.
