COSMIC MESSAGE

This panorama of the southern Milky Way's disk, taken from Australia, shows a diffuse band of stars circling the sky. Our Sun resides within this disk, so we see many bright stars, dark dust lanes, and nebulae. This 40-minute exposure reveals red emission nebulae and blue reflection nebulae.
