The Rotten Egg Planetary Nebula, OH231.8+4.2, began as a star much like our Sun. It has now entered the planetary nebula phase, ejecting its outer atmosphere into space. This image shows spectacular jets of streaming gas, forming a unique shape. The remaining core will become a white dwarf star.
