COSMIC MESSAGE
The space between stars is not empty. Our Sun is moving through a region of tenuous gas and dust known as the Local Interstellar Cloud. This cloud is made mostly of hydrogen and is very difficult to see directly. Astronomers detect it by observing how it absorbs specific colors of light from nearby stars, allowing them to map its extent.
