Europa, one of Jupiter's Galilean moons, is covered in a vast sheet of ice. Evidence suggests a liquid ocean lies beneath this icy shell, potentially harboring life. This time-lapse sequence from the Galileo spacecraft shows Europa rotating. Many surface cracks on Europa stop abruptly and then resume elsewhere, indicating that its icy surface may be made of sliding plates.
