M27, the Dumbbell Nebula, discovered in 1764 by Charles Messier. It is a planetary nebula, the fate of stars like our Sun after they run out of fuel. This glowing shell of gas in the constellation Vulpecula is one of the brightest planetary nebulae in the sky.
