Photographs often struggle to capture the full magnificence of the Sun's corona during a total solar eclipse. The human eye adapts to see more detail and extent than film usually can. This digital composite of twenty-two photographs, taken during the August 1999 eclipse, enhances faint features of the corona, bringing out its full extent.
