Protoplanetary Survivors in Orion
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Orion Nebula is a stellar nursery, full of young stars and clouds of gas and dust. While protoplanetary disks are common here, the environment is harsh for forming planetary systems. These Hubble Space Telescope images show the difficult conditions these disks face. Intense radiation from central young stars can erode them.
