This image captures a Perseid meteor streaking across the sky. These meteors are grains of cosmic sand and gravel shed from Comet Swift-Tuttle. They vaporize as they enter Earth's atmosphere, creating bright trails. The Perseid shower is strongest around August 12 and 13.
