Venus' Once Molten Surface

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This computer reconstruction of Venus's surface was created from data from the Magellan spacecraft. Magellan orbited Venus from 1990 to 1994, using radar to map our neighboring planet's surface. It found many interesting features, including large circular domes, typically 25 kilometers across, thought to be formed by volcanism.
