NGC 6888: X-Rays in the Wind
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, is a cosmic bubble of gas about 25 light-years across. Winds from the bright, massive star at its center created this structure. The Chandra Observatory captured X-ray data, shown in blue, which is overlaid on optical images of the glowing gas filaments. Isolated stellar wind bubbles like this are not typically expected to produce energetic X-rays.
