The green flash is a real, well-understood atmospheric phenomenon, not a myth. Just as the setting or rising Sun disappears or appears, a brief, startling green glimmer can be seen. It requires a low, distant horizon and lasts only a few seconds, caused by the bending of light through Earth's atmosphere.
