ISS and Discovery Transit the Sun

NASA APOD · Anthony Ayiomamitis
COSMIC MESSAGE

What looks like a large sunspot in this image is actually the International Space Station and Space Shuttle Discovery. They were captured transiting the Sun during mission STS-114. While the ISS is often seen as a bright star in twilight skies, this image shows a rarer opportunity. Astronomer Anthony Ayiomamitis recorded the spacefarers against the solar disk.
