A Rocket Launch at Sunset

NASA APOD · Nick Hilton (fottostudio.com)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Last week, a Minotaur rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base created this photogenic plume at sunset. The cloud was visible far from the launch site, as fuel particles and water droplets from the rocket swirled in the upper atmosphere's winds. Not everyone who saw the unusual cloud knew its cause. This image captures the lingering effect of a rocket launch against the twilight sky.
