To understand what goes on inside a galaxy, astronomers imaged the Large Magellanic Cloud in specific colors of light. This mosaic of over 1,500 images highlights light emitted by hydrogen in red, oxygen in green, and sulfur in blue. The Magellanic Cloud Emission Line Survey team created this detailed view of our neighboring galaxy.
