Noctilucent Clouds Over Sweden

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Noctilucent clouds are rare, high-altitude clouds that reflect sunlight long after the Sun has set on the ground. This image, captured near Vallentuna, Sweden, shows their eerie, colorful glow. They form much higher than typical clouds, at the edge of space, where temperatures are extremely cold. This allows water ice crystals to form, scattering sunlight back to Earth.
