Crescent Neptune and Triton
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Voyager 2 captured this unique crescent view of Neptune and its moon Triton in 1989. Taken from behind the planet, after its closest approach, this perspective is impossible from Earth. The forward-scattered sunlight gives Neptune a reddish hue, different from its familiar blue.
