NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The star Mira, or Omicron Ceti, was called a wonderful star by 17th-century astronomers because its brightness changed so much. It is a red giant, 700 times the size of the Sun, and it pulsates over an 11-month cycle. Mira has a white dwarf companion, Mira B, and together they orbit 420 light-years from us.
