Zodiacal Light and the False Dawn

NASA APOD · Yuri Beletsky (ESO)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Zodiacal light, also known as the false dawn, forms a luminous triangle of light near the horizon. This glow comes from sunlight reflecting off interplanetary dust particles that orbit the Sun in the same plane as the planets. This photograph was taken from the Paranal Observatory in Chile.
