Saturn was at opposition on September 21, appearing opposite the Sun in Earth's sky. At this point, Saturn was at its brightest for the year, rising at sunset and visible all night in the constellation Pisces. This image from the Qinghai Lenghu Observatory shows Saturn immersed in a faint oval of light, known as the gegenschein.
