COSMIC MESSAGE
A Delta II rocket launches from Cape Canaveral, carrying GLAST, the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope. GLAST's mission is to study gamma-rays from extreme environments, both within the Milky Way and from supermassive black holes. Its detector technology was initially developed for terrestrial particle accelerators. Now in orbit, it offers a new window into the universe's most energetic phenomena.
