The Moon completely covered the Sun during a total solar eclipse, making the Sun appear as a black dot. This event was visible over a thin swath of Earth, from northern Canada to China. This image was taken during totality near Barkol in Xinjiang, China, with the Barkol Shan mountain range visible on the horizon.
