A Spectre in the Eastern Veil
NASA APOD · Paul Mortfield
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Eastern Veil Nebula, in Cygnus, is what's left of a star that exploded thousands of years ago. The explosion's debris cloud is still expanding. This part of the nebula is about half a degree across, the apparent size of the Moon. It glows in garish colors, like a cosmic close-up of something from Halloween.
