Solstice to Solstice Solargraph

NASA APOD · Maciej Zapiór
COSMIC MESSAGE

This six-month-long exposure, from December 2008 to June 2009, compresses time into a single point of view. Called a solargraph, it was recorded with a pinhole camera made from an aluminum can lined with photographic paper. Fixed in one spot, the simple camera continuously recorded the Sun's daily path as a glowing trail. Breaks in the trails are caused by clouds or obstructions.
