The daytime sky grew dark, the temperature dropped, and lights came on as Chongqing, China, was plunged into the Moon's shadow. This wide-angle view captures the shimmering solar corona just before the end of the total phase. Despite thin clouds, the event was visible from a newly constructed park. This total solar eclipse occurred near Aphelion, when Earth is farthest from the Sun.
