M78 and Reflecting Dust Clouds in Orion
NASA APOD · Ignacio de la Cueva Torregrosa
COSMIC MESSAGE
An eerie blue glow and ominous columns of dark dust highlight M78 and other bright reflection nebulae in Orion. The dark filamentary dust absorbs light, but also reflects the light of several bright blue stars. These stars formed recently in the nebula. M78 is in the image center, and NGC 2071 is to its lower left.
