NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

IC 418, the Spirograph Nebula, is a planetary nebula with patterns that are not well understood. It is named for its resemblance to drawings from a cyclical drawing tool. The central star changes brightness unpredictably in just a few hours. A few million years ago, IC 418 was probably a star similar to our Sun.
