The Cat's Paw Nebula, also known as NGC 6334, is an emission nebula in Scorpius. It gets its red color from ionized hydrogen atoms. This star-forming region is about 5,500 light years away. Stars nearly ten times the mass of our Sun have been born there in only the past few million years.
