Calm, Crescent Moon, and Venus

NASA APOD · Clear Skies
COSMIC MESSAGE

Last weekend, the Moon and Venus formed a close pair in the western sky after sunset. This conjunction from Sweden shows a calm lake Vallentuna in the foreground with sunset colors fading behind the treeline. The Moon's sunlit crescent is bright, but its entire outline is visible due to Earthshine, light reflected from Earth itself.
